In 1761, the cabinet-maker Kaspar Faber set up his own pencil business at Stein, near Nuremberg. Now, Faber-castell is owned by the 8th generation of the owners and is managed today by Count Anton Wolfgang, Graf von Faber-Castell. In 250 years it has grown from one man and his workshop to a truly international company with some 5000 employees. Pencils feature prominently among its 2000 strong product range. In fact, it produces 1800 million pencils a year.

It also produces writing instruments and accessories made from the finest materials in uncompromising quality. The finest selected woods distinguish the Graf von Faber-Castell Collection. Alder for the prestige cassettes and best Californian cedar for the premium lead pencils. Brazilwood, from which violin bows are also produced, is used for the writing utensils. The shafts of the black writing utensils are turned from ebony.

An attractive combination of wood and metal make the E-Motion range very distinctive. The pencil has a 1.4mm lead which is propelled by twisting the cap. Underneath the cap is an extra large eraser. The clip is spring mounted for ease of use.
