The Cross story goes back to 1846 when Alonzo Townsend Cross combined the craftmanship of a jeweller with his innate business ingenuity. Originally producing hand tooled gold and silver pencil casings, he went on to patent the worlds first propel-repel mechanical pencil and the first pen prototype heralding ball-point pen.

Cross was to later develop a whole range of unique writing instruments, all of exceptional quality, and all marked by his fertile imagination, unique sense of design and a keen eye for the smallest details. That spirit has continued and Cross still make products unsurpassed in quality and value, one at a time and by hand, just as they did in 1846.

The Townsend range, named after the brands creator, is regarded as the masterpiece of the Cross Collection. Available as fountain pen, ballpoint, Selectip® and pencil in 'Precious Stone' and 'Precious Metal' finishes.
